Many people are reportedly trapped under rubble after a three-storey
building under construction, collapsed this afternoon at Richard
Abimbola street in the Ilasa area of Lagos state. Officers of the state
Emergency Management Authority are at the scene of the incident to
rescue the trapped victims.
Meanwhile about 7 of the construction workers have been rescued.

The pro-EU centrist Emmanuel Macron has vowed to unite a divided and fractured France after winning a decisive victory over the far-right Front National candidate Marine Le Pen in the country’s presidential election. Macron, 39, a former economy minister who ran as a “neither left nor right” independent promising to shake up the French political system, took 66% to Le Pen’s 34%. His victory was hailed by his supporters as holding back a tide of populism after the Brexit vote and Donald Trump’s victory in the US election. Addressing thousands of supporters in the grand courtyard of the Louvre, the vast Paris palace-turned-museum, Macron said he would defend France and Europe. The Bauchi State Police Command on Wednesday paraded suspected armed robbers arrested in various part of the state. Briefing newsmen at the Command Headquarters, the Commissioner of Police, Garba Baba Umar said that on May 10th, police detectives attached to Tafawa Balewa Housing Estate in collaboration with neighborhood watch at Madina quarters arrested members of an armed robbery gang. The suspects are: Garba Abdulmumini, male, 25 of Madina quarters Bauchi Mohammed A. Musa, AKA Daji male, 22 of Tudun Salmanu Ward Munkaila Mohammed, AKA Babawo, male, 28 of Tudun Ward. The suspects had on Monday, May 8th, invaded the house of one Abubakar Mohammed of Madina quarters Bauchi, beat and robbed him of his Samsung Galaxy handset and cash sum of eighteen thousand Naira at gun point and fled.
