On Sunday 14th May, troops of 233 Battalion, 27 Task Force Brigade, Nigerian Army, stationed at Forward Operation Base Potiskum in conjunction with vigilantes, arrested a suspected notorious Boko Haram terrorist, Abubakar Adamu, aged 35 years, popularly called "Pepper" around New Prison area, Potiskum, Potiskum Local Government Area (LGA) of Yobe State. Preliminary investigation shows that the suspected terrorist hailed from Yerimara village, Potiskum LGA and that he has participated in carrying out attacks and other terrorists activities in the north east. Investigation is still ongoing.

Former Jets star, Antonio Cromartie and his wife, Terricka Cromartie, are expecting their 6th child together, but Antonio's fourteenth child. This will be their third child after he said he had a vasectomy in 2011. He had a set of twins on May 8th 2016, now his wife is 6 months pregnant with another child since the procedure. The free Agent NFL cornerback player got a vasectomy when his wife was pregnant with his 11th child. “I really thought I was dreaming . . . I was just in total disbelief,” Terricka told US Weekly at the time she was pregnant with the twin babies last year. On Sunday, which was Mother's Day in the US, Terricka Cromartie announced on Instagram that she’s expecting their sixth child. Though some think it might be a joke because of her  #bowwowchallenge hashtag, she is really pregnant. She posted another photo of herself some hours ago to confirm that she is truly pregnant with her 6th child.

Award-winning American Actor,  Powers Boothe, known for his remarkable roles in 'Sin City,' 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D,' and 'Deadwood,' has died at the age of 68. According to his publicist, Karen Samfilippo, she said the actor passed away Sunday of natural causes in his sleep at his Los Angeles home. His family will hold a private service in Texas and they're also considering a memorial celebration. Boothe who found fame in 1980, after playing Jim Jones in the CBS-TV movie Guyana Tragedy: The Story of Jim Jones has acted in over 40 movies and was in 2009  inducted alongside Billy Bob Thornton in the Texas Film Hall of Fame. Murtala Adamu , Executive Chairman Zamfara State Universal Basic Education Board was on Friday May 12 convicted and sentenced to six months imprisonment by Justice Zainab Abubakar of the Federal High Court Gusau Zamfara State for allegedly engaging in private business while in public service.  Adamu's journey to prison started when the Commission received a petition from one Abdullahi Nakura who alleged that the convict refused  to pay him and other contractors for jobs executed for the board. Upon receipt of the petition, the commission swung into action and its investigation revealed that apart from nonpayment for contracts, the convict was also in the habit of collecting kickbacks from contractors. It was further discovered that the convict also awarded contract to his own company. Remember Baby Khadija Bashir who was raped when she was just six month's old by a neighbor's husband?(Read here ) The good news is that she is doing and has gained some weight as shown in these new photos. She weighs 6kg now. Baby Khadija was raped by her mother's female friend and her husband when she was only 6 months old and was seriously injured to the extent that she had to undergo surgery which was successful. She is currently receiving medical attention at Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, Kano and looks good in these new photos. The case against her rapist is in the Kano high court and the culprit has hired 10 lawyers to defend him.

Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki has advocated the need to prioritize deterrence rather than punishment in order to permanently win the ongoing war against corruption. In a statement signed by Sanni Onogu, C hief Press Secretary to the Senate President,Saraki gave the charge in his speech at the Public Presentation and Book-Signing ceremony of Senator Dino Melaye's book titled: "Antidotes For Corruption - The Nigerian Story", held in Abuja on Monday , according to a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Sanni Onogu. A 101-year-old Bryson William 'Verdun' Hayes known as Verdun from southwest England has become the world's oldest  skydive after he completed the record-breaking jump on Sunday.  He skydived for the very first time a year ago to celebrate his 100th birthday. According to him, 'last year's skydive was an amazing experience, I must have got a bit of a taste for it, because it just made me want to do it again." The previous record was held by Canadian Armand Gendreau, who skydived from 10,000 feet in June 2013 aged 101 and three days. Hayes, who jumped from 15,000 feet, added 34 days to that record and also, 8 members of his family jumped with him, including his son Bryan, grandson Roger and great-grandsons Joe and Stanley. 

A 22-year-old lady from Edo state, Beauty John has narrated her experience in Libyan prison after she was caught by security agents while trying to enter Italy illegally. Speaking to Vanguard, the young lady revealed that she discovered she was pregnant for her boyfriend in Benin while in prison and how she and her child almost died of malnutrition. She described her experience as hell. Beauty John is one of the 158 people that got recently deported from Libya. There was mild drama at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology ( LAUTECH) in Ogbomoso, Oyo State on Monday, as aggrieved students shut the school gates to prevent UTME candidates from writing their examination scheduled for Monday morning. The gates were reportedly locked by 5am after the student leaders had a meeting insisting that government must fight the crisis in the institution before admitting new students. The demands include a comprehensive academic calendar, as many complained of having 3sets of 100 level students, including 200 level. The students also charged the school authorities to fix an appropriate time for commencement of lectures and meet all necessary demands or risk a total lockdown of the institution. The student leaders hope the protest will convince the federal government to intercede in the ongoing crisis in the institution.

Officers of the Malaysian customs Service in Kuala Lumpur foiled an attempt to smuggle hundreds of the world's most endangered tortoises into the country from Madagascar, a senior official said Monday . Speaking to AFP, the deputy director of the customs department, Abdul Wahid Sulong, said the 330 ploughshare and radiated tortoises worth around $276,784, were seized at Kuala Lumpur International Airport on Sunday . 'All of the reptiles were found alive. It is a big haul. It could be for the local market or for re-export. We are investigating,' the enforcement agency said in a statement. 'Based on a public tip-off, customs officials raided the cargo area of the airport and found five suspicious crates. It had arrived at KLIA on an Etihad Airways flight from Antananarivo airport in Madagascar,' the statement added. According to authorities in India, Nigerian nationals have topped the list of foreigners arrested for drug smuggling in Navi Mumbai, India over the past five years. A total of 66 narcotic related cases were registered between 2012 and April, this year in the city. Nigerian nationals were involved in 14 of these cases, the police said. Since 2012, the police have arrested 14 foreign nationals for smuggling drugs to the city and 13 of them were from Nigeria, while one was from Ghana. Barely a week ago, the police arrested one Nigerian from Kopar Khairane who had come to sell mephedrone rock and powder. Around 25 gram of the drug in powder form and 85 gram in rock form collectively worth Rs 3.30 lakh was seized from his possession.
