Student drops Pineapple in the middle of an art exhibition as a prank and it gets mistaken for art

Image
22-year-old Ruairi Gray, a final year student studying business information technology, left a pineapple in the middle of an art exhibition at Aberdeen's Robert Gordon University, but was surprised to see the next day that it had been put on show inside a glass case at the centre of the display. Originally meant to be a prank, Gary said:   'I saw an empty art display stand and decided to see how long it would stay there for or if people would believe it was art. I came in later and it had been put in a glass case - it's the funniest thing that has happened all year.' 'My honours supervisor saw it and asked an art lecturer if it was real, because he could not believe it.  He apparently replied: "Of course it's real, you can see what they were trying to do with the top of the pineapple and the glass." I was just so shocked that it had been fully accepted as part of the art display.' Officials at the art exhibition removed...

Emmanuel Macron vows unity after winning French presidential election

Image
The pro-EU centrist Emmanuel Macron has vowed to unite a divided and fractured France after winning a decisive victory over the far-right Front National candidate Marine Le Pen in the country’s presidential election. Macron, 39, a former economy minister who ran as a “neither left nor right” independent promising to shake up the French political system, took 66% to Le Pen’s 34%. His victory was hailed by his supporters as holding back a tide of populism after the Brexit vote and Donald Trump’s victory in the US election. Addressing thousands of supporters in the grand courtyard of the Louvre, the vast Paris palace-turned-museum, Macron said he would defend France and Europe. He said Europe and the world are “watching us” and “waiting for us to defend the spirit of the Enlightenment, threatened in so many places”. He promised to unite a divided and fractured France, saying: “I will do everything to make sure you never have reason again to vote for extremes....

EXTRATERRESTRIAL TEMPEST Jupiter’s swirling storms revealed in beautiful colour snap taken by Nasa’s Juno probe

Image
THIS incredible picture captures the violent storms swirling over Jupiter’s south pole. The snap was taken in late 2016 but has been developed in colour by scientist Gabriel Fiset. Fiset used data from the Juno spacecraft which has been monitoring the planet since it launched in 2011. The swirl-patterned cloudscape is made by turbulence in the atmosphere. Streams of air resemble giant tangled strings – and suggest that taking a flight there would be particularly bumpy. Jupiter is known for its stormy surface. Its “great red spot” is believed to have been brewing for 350 years. A gigantic “cold spot” which is big enough to swallow Earth whole  recently cropped up. Scientists said the dark expanse – which can be found on the planet’s north pole – is 15,000 miles across and 7,500 miles wide. As NASA published the incredible new snap, Jupiter was making a spectacular appearance on Earth. An amateur filmmaker captured the moment the pl...

My pastor hurried me to marry wrong man, woman tells court

Image
A civil servant, Victoria Igbo, on Monday told a Nyanya Customary Court, Abuja, that her pastor hurried her into marrying the wrong man. Victoria, who filed a petition seeking dissolution of marriage her, said that her pastor did not give her enough time to make up her mind before marriage. “My husband proposed to marry me the same time he met my pastor and asked my hand in marriage. “I told my pastor that he should give me three months to think about it. “But my pastor said that three months was too long to think about it. He then gave me only two weeks to pray over it which I did; after which I told my pastor that I agreed,” she said. Victoria said that since she married her husband, it has been one trouble or the other. “My husband keeps acquiring debts and most times when he gets into trouble as a result of that, I have no other option than to pay,” the petitioner said. She also said that she was not aware that her husband had several children before the ...

Things get messy for Messi’s his car got Impounded *wink*

Image
Iranian student Reza Parastesh looks so much like his sporting hero Lionel Messi that it almost landed him in jail for disrupting public order this week. So many people came out to take selfies with Parastesh in the western city of Hamedan over the weekend that police rushed him into a station and impounded his car to stop the chaos and clear traffic. The resemblance is so uncanny that Eurosport UK reportedly used his photo by accident on Twitter recently when talking about the real Messi. The furore began a few months ago when Parastesh’s football-mad father pressured the 25-year-old into posing in a number 10 Barcelona jersey and sending the pictures to a sports website. “I sent them one night and by the morning they had called me and said I should come in quickly for an interview,” he told AFP. Despite his early reluctance, Parastesh soon grew into his new role, cutting his hair like Messi and often donning the Barca jersey when he goes out. It has paid off ...

Fresh medical vacation for Buhari in London

Image
President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday night left for London, United Kingdom (UK) to meet with his doctors. The presidency said the length of his stay in London would be determined by his medical team. He transmitted a letter to the National Assembly in this respect. A statement by his spokesman, Femi Adesina, said the president had planned to depart yesterday afternoon, but delayed the trip by some hours to receive the 82 Chibok girls. The new development may have eventually confirmed the speculations that Buhari has been gravely ill and that he needs to see his doctors instead of worsening his condition by attempting to meet his presidential responsibilities “The president wishes to assure all Nigerians that there is no cause for worry. He is very grateful for the prayers and good wishes of the people, and hopes they would continue to pray for the peace and unity of the nation. The length of the president’s stay in London will be determined by the doctors. “Gove...
