LIVERPOOL REJECT FRESH €125M OFFER FROM BARCELONA FOR COUTINHO AND MAINTAIN HE'S NOT FOR SALE

The 25-year-old submitted a transfer request last week and the Catalans made a third offer for the Brazilian, but the Reds will not sanction his exit Liverpool have immediately rebuffed a €125 million offer from Barcelona for Philippe Coutinho, reiterating their “definitive stance” that the player is not on the market this summer. It was the third formal proposal the Catalan club have tabled for the Brazil international, who  submitted a transfer request  that was rejected last week Friday. As with the previous bids of £72m and £90m, the Reds made clear their unwillingness to do business by refusing to consider the approaches as  spelled out in a statement  from Fenway Sports Group. The Merseysiders insist, as per that strong message from the owners, that the 25-year-old will “remain a member of Liverpool Football Club when the summer window closes.”

Three die, 50 injured in luxurious bus accident in Kogi

The spokesman of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Mr Bisi Kazeem, confirmed the incident in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria. Three persons, a male and two females, died in an auto accident on the Auchi-Okene axis of the Benin-Lokoja road on Saturday morning. Nigeria could earn billions in foreign currency from its 47 million tonnes of cassava tubers produced annually, a university don, Prof. Aloy Ezirim has said. Ezirim, a lecturer in the Faculty of Management Sciences, University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT), made this known to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Port Harcourt on Friday. Man who allegedly killed his banker girlfriend nabbed along Uganda-Kenya border trying to escape to Nairobi

Andrew Okoth Calvin Phillip, the suspected killer of his girlfriend was nabbed along the Uganda-Kenya boarder last night trying to escape to Nairobi. Police had launched a manhunt for the suspect after they discovered the body of his girlfriend Fahima Natoolo, an employee of Tropical Bank of Africa, Kampala, Uganda. According to Police sources, Natoolo was murdered on Sunday morning. Okoth had asked her to spend a night with him at his home in Mbalwa Nabwojjo, a Kampala suburb. At the time of arrest, he had injuries on his right arm and left leg. Fahima and Okoth have a child together and had separated, but kept in touch for the sake of the child. Amy Colle Dieng A popular Senegalese singer is in police detention over “offensive” remarks widely shared online attacking President Macky Sall and the organisation of recent elections, police and local media said Friday. Amy Colle Dieng, a popular “Mbalax” artist, was arrested on Thursday, a police source confirmed to AFP without specifying why. But audio of her lashing out at the president has been creating a social media storm in recent days. Dieng is also heard declaring her support for ex-president Abdoulaye Wade, who stood as an opposition candidate in last Sunday’s legislative elections, and she criticises administrative errors that marred the vote. Huge fire rips through 86-storey skyscraper in Dubai

A massive fire has broken out at Dubai's 1,105ft tall Torch Tower. According to reports, the fire is said to have started at around 1am local time, before shooting up one side of the 86-storey building. Video captured from the scene and circulating on social media shows the flames illuminating the night's sky with debris falling down onto the streets below. Dubai authorities however say the building has been evacuated, no casualty recorded yet. The same skyscraper was devastated by fire in 2015 and the building's flammable cladding, which was similar to that used in Grenfell Tower, was blamed for fuelling the flames. The Torch Tower is the fifth tallest residential building in the world and stands at more than 330 metres (1,105 ft).

Joshua Allen, 28, of North Hollywood, pleaded no contest to felony counts of willfully injuring his girlfriend after a prior conviction and assault with a deadly weapon, the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office said in a statement which did not name the victims. The 28-year-old dancer, who lives in North Hollywood, was sentenced to 12 months in a county jail with five years of formal probation. The decomposing, beheaded body of a youth in the Gbamaramatu kingdom in Delta state, Solomon Ikoto, who has been missing for some weeks, was reportedly discovered inside the Warri river in Delta state yesterday August 3rd. According to Gbaramatu Voice, a cousin of the deceased, Peter Ebime, identified the beheaded body as that of 37 year old Solomon Ikoto who went missing since July 13th. Peter said that the outfit that was seen on the body of the deceased was the same outfit his deceased cousin wore when he left their house the night he went missing. Items recorvered by police on Abuja-Kaduna high way from Notorious kidnappers

The Nigeria Police force have arrested gangs of vicious and notorious suspected kidnappers terrorizing Abuja-Kaduna Highway. Not only was large caches of arms and ammunition recovered, but a whole lot of properties forcefully taken from their victims were found.   The kidnappers' dens, hideouts, camps and other black spots in the forest along Abuja-Kaduna Highway were stormed and raided by the Police within the last few days and in the process three (3) victims were rescued unhurt from the gangs without payment of any ransom, and they have been reunited with their families.    Some of the victims have identified most of the suspects as the people that kidnapped them. Also, all the suspects were said to have confessed and admitted to the various criminal roles they played in the commission of the crimes. They will be arraigned in court after investigation is over.
